Kjelle Lundberg started building lures many years ago.  As with many lure makers, Kjelle started making lures for his own personal use. At the time there were very few wooden jerk baits available for purchase in Sweden, so Kjelle purchased some wooden musky baits from a mail order shop in the U.S. for pike fishing. He really liked the lures, but they were very expensive to buy and ship to Sweden. Kjelle caught many nice pike on the lures he bought, and managed to lose quite a few of these lures in the process, so Kjelle decided "maybe I can make these myself!" From there he set up a small shop in his apartment living room, much to his wifes surprise. He started experimenting with different types of wood and different shapes of lures. In the beginning it was a lot of trial and error. There wasn't much information available on the Internet about lure making, so Kjelle had to do everything the hard way! The Stalker lure was the first lure that Kjelle developed, and has been the number one big fish catching bait of all the Kjelle Lundberg lures. The Stalker has been catching monster pike in Europe for years, and is now available to continue that legacy on musky and pike in the U.S.

About Larry Murphy and Murphy Outdoors

Murphy Outdoors is a guide service owned by me, Larry Murphy.  Murphy Outdoors was started in May of 2007 when I retired from an IT Executive position after 25 years with the company.  The company I worked for was very good to me and gave me the financial freedom to do what I love, teach people how to be better fishermen and outdoorsmen.  I have been an avid musky fisherman for the past 15 years, and have helped many people catch their first musky.  I also do a great deal of bass fishing here in the midwest, and I compete in several bass fishing circuits.  According to my wife I spend over 200 days a year fishing!  I am sponsored by the Champion Boat Company, Daiwa, 7/24 Outdoors, and of course by Kjelle Lundberg Custom Musky Baits.  I am also a published outdoor writer, and have had musky fishing articles published in Musky Hunter magazine, Muskies Inc. magazine, Simply Fishing magazine, and in a European magazine called Fishing Fever.  I am a member of the pro staff at 7/24 Outdoors where I have written several articles on a variety of fishing and hunting topics.  For more about me, please see http://murphyoutdoors.com/about.aspx or read my bio on 7/24 Outdoors at http://www.724outdoors.com/ProStaff/bio_detail.asp?staffID=1919 .  I also won an award for my guide business.  I was awarded FIRST PLACE in the Startup Nation "Boomer's Back in Business" nationwide small business competition. I was first introduced to the Lundberg Stalker in August of 2007 while guiding a group of guys from Sweden on musky at Lake of the Woods.  This was their first trip to Canada, and their first opportunity to fish for musky.  They brought a number of lures with them from Sweden that worked well on large Pike in Europe, and the bait that worked the best was the Lundberg Stalker.  The group of guys from Sweden were accomplished trophy Pike fishermen, and each member of the group landed one or more musky on their first musky fishing adventure, many of which were caught on the Stalker!

After a great deal of begging and pleading, they gave me a musky colored Stalker to keep.  Since then I have caught numerous musky at Pomme de Terre in southern Missouri on the Stalker.  I now have several Stalkers to use, and I had the best luck this fall on shad patterns at Pomme.  Now I always have a Stalker tied on when guiding, or when fishing by myself.  The Stalker has truly become my favorite musky bait.
